2017 Mini-Comp Reminder

This is just a reminder that the deadline for the mini-comp is coming up! There's only one month until the end of July. At least one person has made enough progress on their game that they are looking for playtesters.

One month is usually enough time to create a small game. But when we get closer to the end of July, the deadline can be extended if authors think they could use some extra time.

Well Damn, That's Just a Big Sex Scene...

I was recently inspired to try and write a game related to a wife-swap type scenario. I thought the social and mental aspects would be interesting, and I started working on a game where you were the (initially) reluctant husband in the scenario. Narrativly, it focuses on you slowly giving in to the desires - or deciding to walk away - and includes a lot of stuff relating to not only your hesitance, but the knowledge that your wife and best friend are nearby, and showing no such reluctance (including some voyeuristic aspects).

And, I was pretty jazzed! Lots of dialog, lots of new stuff to try (fuses, scripts, demons, etc)...

But I realized that, as I have it written (probably 2/3rds of the way done) it dumps you RIGHT into the intimacy, and concludes when you eventually leave.

BUT - though there is a lot of depth (I think), there is no puzzle, etc. Advancing the scene is just a matter of making choices that advance the scene logically (talking, touching eventually, etc).

Do people think such a thing is 'playable', or is it too flat to add much real value? What thoughts or advice do you have?

Let Me Out v0.3.1

I’m ready to put out a public alpha release of my latest game!

Let Me Out is the sequel to my earlier game Let Me In (although you don't need to have played that one) and features a more developed form of that gameplay, in which you type the actual words of a conversation between a princess in a dungeon and the orc guarding her.

Inkle's Inky

Although I have written some small AIF games in TADS and Twine, I never enjoyed the process of writing games with those systems. I have often complained that many game engines are designed by people who rarely make games themselves. That's why I was so excited when I recently discovered that Inkle, a well-respected IF developer, has on open source version of some of their game development tools. They have a downloadable game editor called Inky that can generate standalone HTML IF games from code written in a language called Ink.

That's Fuck'n Teamwork

Greetings fellow AIF fans!

As some of you may know, I am an aspiring AIF author with a few titles underneath my belt. None of them are stellar (I'll leave that to the pros!), but I like to think that they are decent, and in the process I've learned a LOT about programing them. I still don't know TADS 3 inside and out, but I know a enough to recognize I would have coded things much different in the past.

I also know that hitting the appropriate level of variety and detail means writing a LOT of smut. More than one game has gotten hung up by a failure to describe yet another exiting thrust!

So - after seeing some other authors have a lot of success with teamwork, I thought I'd see if anyone else was interested.

We can talk mechanics, plot, etc - but you can count on me to mostly make the mechanics work. Whatever you need to know about TADS, I can tell you. In return, I would hope for some help writing the various descriptions - both of individuals and the associated sex acts.

I suppose, given the subject matter, I should mention that my own preferences are for women, and as such my stories would involve one or more of them. I have nothing against gay works, it's just not my cup of tea... and staring at it for hours really isn't going to work out if it isn't!

Please, let me know if you're interested. Feel free to comment here, or message me directly - brokenknightx (AT) gmail

Thanks in advance,

Emily: Homecoming Act 2

This was sort of (un)intentionally meant for the mini-comp but I have a few doubts regarding the recent comments on this site and the future of the AIF scene after my recent two threads, so I'm releasing it now instead.

Anyway, this is act two of the three acts of Emily:Homecoming (sequel to Emily: Sister Attraction) that I'm working on. It's meant to feel like a mini-comp game. Hope you enjoy it!

This was made in collaboration with BBBen, and I'd like to really thank him for his contribution. And to be honest, this should be what it's all about; people working together, whether it is in making games, creating websites, or forums or anything else. I sincerely hope we can revitalize the scene, because it's in desperate need of it.

Anyway, not going to bore you anymore with my BS. As usual, actually read the ReadMe.txt file! For more, or to support the continued development of this game and the other things we're working on, please visit www.patreon.com/palmer

All the best,
