2020 Minicomp Results

The voting for the AIF Mini-Comp is over and the results have been compiled. There was much less voting this year than the last minicomp three years ago. I'm not sure if there was caused by the unusual voting system or reduced activity in the community. But let's get to the results.

There were five entries to the Mini-Comp this year:

  • The View to Her Apartment by stochastic (HTML)
  • Going Down by Louys Bilitis (HTML)
  • Amy's Predatory Boyfriend by Lost Trout (HTML)
  • The General's Daughter by accofake (HTML)
  • Amnesia by Eulexia (HTML)

Thank you again to all these authors for making these games for us to play!

According to the votes, the top three games were

  1. Going Down by Louys Bilitis
  2. Amnesia by Eulexia
  3. The General's Daughter by accofake

  1. Congratulations to the winners, and a very big thank you to everyone who participated! Also thanks are in order for our long time friend of the community who put everything together! I hope at least one of you (or even better, all of you!) will go on to produce a full-fledged work of AIF in the future. Thanks again!

As far as voting, I couldn't say for sure, but it is quite possible the voting system might be part of the issue. It did feel odd to send in several ballots instead of a single vote (or even multipage but single step).

From a personal standpoint, it didn't discourage me at all, but I could see how some would see it and say forget it as it felt odd. I also would have preferred a 3 star system, though maybe it leads to too many '2's?

Of course, it might have just been less people interested. Do you have data on how many downloaded the games vs voted by chance?

Regardless of the case, I would say this was definitely a success as there were several entries and it seems you did a good job of updating everyone throughout the competition and explained things clearly about what was expected. Great job and looking forward to the next one!

  2. Thanks all. I'm joyed to become a small part of AIF history and sincerely grateful to anyone who took the time out to write, play or vote for a game. I hope this results in more authors trying their hand, here or anywhere they feel their writing and/or coding talents are best suited. We all want more AIF, but until you try, and put yourself out there for the world to judge, you won't know what makes you creatively happiest. It might be static erotica, it might be games with little-to-no sex after all; somebody out there will appreciate your efforts. But seriously, we want more AIF. And lesbians, I'm relieved to hear.

Here's to all the authors this year, and to lost trout in particular for the organization.

On to my next lewd text game now, a more traditional adventure, in Twine, with interactive environments, items to do stuff with, and npcs to talk to and... do stuff with, plus more penis.

    Cheers!
