  2. Is it okay to simultaneously release comp games online (like on itch.io) when they are made available to players? I suppose it might be helpful if a game is available to play online without a download in some cases.

    1. Yes. That is okay.

The only issues would be if you updated the online version during the voting period with changes that would disqualify it from the competition. Or if the online version were regularly changed with different sexual partners on different days. Or if the online version somehow enabled people to vote for you in the competition without them knowing that there were other games that they could play and vote for as well. Basically, it's okay as long as there is nothing egregious going on.

  3. Got it. Once this thing is done, it's done, at least for the competition. The only indication of the comp is in the "about section" "Made for AIF Minicomp 2017". I also did plan to include a link to this blog "for more information about adult games..."

    1. I worded that unclearly. It's a little unusual, but I'm okay with you releasing updates to the game during the voting period. Your game might have bugs or something stupid in it that you want to fix. Maybe you didn't finish some bit before the deadline but still want to get it in, even if many people will not see it. I think it would be unfair if the updates included 5 extra characters and 10 extra rooms though. The updated game should still be a minicomp game.

Basically, I'm okay with anything as long as you aren't trying to outrageously game the system.

    2. No problem, I get it. Same as IFComp, you can bugfix but not change the game.

  4. I hope that there will be some participation in this minicomp, even if news in those days aren't great. First Palmer that doesn't know if he will do other aif games for adrift's bugs, after Palmer that needs to try other platform for improving his patron's number (but at the same time he didn't say he will quit aif so maybe he will do either), there is palaverous, but his patron's page doesn't make very much (but for now he is continuing to develope, I hope he will do at least a bit better in future), there are other authors, but this were those that had done big games and are (or were) continuing to make new works. Thinking there is also Ice, he won't speak much, but probably if we are lucky he will release a game each 2-3 years.

    1. I'll definitely have a game ready for the comp. It's more of an interactive story than a game, really, but at least it's something.

    2. I'm in too. I'm just tying up loose ends.

I'm using a choice system called AXMA which has proven really interesting and mostly easy to develop in. I tried ADRIFT for a couple of weeks and was so flummoxed I had to give it up. I know lots of people are opposed to Inform 7, but it's probably one of the best and most compatible development systems there is. AXMA also has incredible sound and image capabilities built right in.

  5. OMG. I think my game is structurally complete.
Now, testing and polishing and editing for content.

    1. Huzzah! Keep up the good work! I think that seeing people finishing theirs might actually give me the boost in motivation I need to get the rest of mine done.

    2. Same here. It feels weird having a game mostly done and finally getting some beta feedback. I'm actually a lot more nervous about putting out a first game than I thought I'd be.

  7. Friendly reminder to everyone procrastinating like me. Stop that. Get it done.

    1. It is a human trait, I keep beating myself up with it.

    2. I'm done; the game is privately up for testing and I am doing prose polishing.

    3. Yeah I am procrastinating as well, however I did get a benefit from doing that. I had a main character in mind to build a game around and about 5 minutes ago I realized that I was using the right franchise but the wrong character.
